A Drive in the Country enjoying the view

bridge-in-sherborn-enhanced
I love photography and my cameras are always in the car and usually one of them is in my purse. I can't seem to enjoy a wonderful place and not want to memorize it so that I can share the experience. I have a new camera that my husband bought for me, but my old Sony Supershot is clearly my favorite camera.

Horse Closeup
Unfortunately one day at the barn visiting my daughter and our horse Dapper I fell, and so did my poor Sony. For months it sat on my counter unable to take photos in focus. Then one day I took it down from the counter dusted it off, cleaned out some of the dirt that had gotten inside and tried all the settings. The knob that helps you select your setting is squished, so it was a little difficult to turn, but when I got to the "auto" setting it worked. Yah, my old pal was missing some function ( not unlike it's owner) but she was as good as new.

Sherborn
So there I was yesterday on the way to visit my daughter Sarah at her barn and I passed by this wonderful place. I drive by this setting all the time and think, I wish there was a safe place to pull off the road to capture this scene. Yesterday I noticed a bit of dirt just large enough to fit my car nearby my favorite scene. Obviously I am not the only one who has wanted to capture this special place.

I carefully got out of the car, although the door was clearly in the path of passing cars, I crept along not to get hit by a car and there...I was able to enjoy this view. I opened up the door to the passenger side and got my good old gal, Sony out of the car so that I could take these photographs.

Sherborn, Massachusetts is one of the many picturesque towns in New England. Driving along the road to Wellesley I am not always clear where the townline is, but this setting always takes my breath away. Behind an enormous beautiful home is this spectacular red bridge. The kind that Monet would have loved to paint. On the other side of the water is this lovely life size statue of an angel. It was a beautiful sunny day, not too hot and although I could clearly hear the crickets in the background, it was pleasant. My daughter tells me that the other side of the river is part of the Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary.

Leaning over to get a better view of this reflection as you drive by, could certainly cause you to have a car accident. Here is a close up of the lovely angel.

I am always in search of magic and suddenly when I looked down ...

Mushrooms-and-faeries

Just kidding, but honest the gorgeous settings in New England are everywhere. Why, I don't even get homesick for New York as much....well, maybe I'm stetching it. Let's just say that the beauty around here certainly helps.

The song for this post is Theme from a Summer Place. If you have never been to New England, here is a slideshow of glimpses into it's beauty, I call it A Day in New England.

Wishing you a lovely day filled with magic and sunflowers.

DeCordova Sculpture Park, a walk in the park

DeCordova Sculpture Park

One of the things on my "To Do" list this summer has been to visit many of the art museums in the area that I have wanted to visit. One of these museums is called The DeCordova Museum situated on gorgeous landscape, which is home to some pretty amazing sculpture.

DSC03487My favorite sculptures in the park was this set of hearts.

DSC03483

DSC03487As I got closer, I was amazed at the details and materials that were used to create this incredible creation.

Here are some bits of one of the hearts...

As I went around the bend there was this trojan rooster.

The grounds are beautiful.

Such a lovely park and museum.

DSC03446

The museum is filled with Contemporary Art, and after I visited the museum I went for a stroll. I really went for a walk in the park, and instead I discovered some beautiful sculpture at DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. The song for this post is an oldie, Sitting in the Park.

My Grandmother 1918

Speaking of sitting in the park. This is a photo of my Grandmother sitting in the park with her sister. I was very close to my Grandmother and I know that she would have adored this park. She lived to be eighty-nine years old and this month was her birthday, she would have been one hundred and seven years old.

Wishing you sunshine and cows wearing sunglasses

Although the sky is blue and the weather is clear, I will be spending today cleaning out my art room. Even the cows are making me feel sorry for myself, look at this one...she is even wearing her Couture sunglasses. "We all know little missy, that you are just trying to make me jealous."

"Hmmph."

If you notice my new blog fufu embellishments, that was just me procrastinating yesterday instead of cleaning my art room. Hope you enjoy the results. And speaking of hope...I Hope your day is filled with fun, laughter and designer sunglasses.

100_2083Seldom do we really see the melody of our beautiful songs. Each of us, every one of us have our own unique lyrics as we play out our symphony throughout our lifetime. Only occasionally do we stop to recognize the beat and rhythm and truly feel our harmony.

100_2083I am so thankful today for the beautiful chapters of my song and the lyrics I have yet to sing. I was looking through some journals that record the special days and I stopped to tell God how grateful I am for this gift called life.

Monday Creatives

A GiftMeeting "Creatives" here in Blogland is such a gift. I have been admiring my friend Gabriela Delworth's beautiful blog for some time now. Don't you just love her name? She is an incredible paper designer. She has been published in magazines, seen on Television in Canada and creates the most divine paper creations. In fact make sure you watch for her on on HGTV in the fall. She teaches classes in everything from creating crowns, to blogging. She has so many delightful inspirations on her blog. I love her new paperdolls and her framing is gorgeous. You must stop by and visit her. Gabriela recently taught at The Tinsel Trading Company and is always working on something magical.

When I contacted Gabriela and asked her what her secret was to her beautiful embellishments on her blog, she gave me lots of ideas. In fact, because of Gabriela, I am experimenting with digital scrapbooking and taking a class in Photoshop Elements 6. Here is the link to some of her lovely digital layouts on flickr.

I love creating scrapbooks, and I have enjoyed this hobby for years. When we lived in Hong Kong, the wide array of scrapbooking pages and embellishments weren't available. However, the Asian papers gave my scrapbooks just the right touch. Scrapbook albums were gorgeous from Japan and I loved keeping up with all the photos we seemed to be taking while we lived there.

Now I only wish I had known Gabriela when I lived in Toronto, we would have had a ball together! Here is a gallery of her incredible crown designs on flickr. She sells kits too, and you should see what adorable little crowns that she designs for your children and for your puppies...OMG.

My creationAt the moment, I am learning how to use Photoshop Elements 6 software and I have chosen to download some digital scrapbook backgrounds, embellishments and things. I love computer art, so to me this is better than a three ring circus. There sure is a great deal to learn, but I enjoy experimenting. The images on this post are me just playing around, but as soon as I finish this class and begin to understand the tricks to layering, I promise you lots of eye candy. Now if you are like me, and love learning about the latest in paper designs, or you just want an eye candy treat, please stop by and visit the talented Gabriela.

Ta Dah...thanks Gabriela!
The song for this post is sung by Gabriela's favorite singer, Michael Buble. I chose the song Everything because it just seems to be such a happy song to begin a Monday.

If I could wrap up your Monday with some magic, I would surely tie it with a bow!!!

Pink Saturday

Pink is for Girls, originally uploaded by bluebirdsandteapots.

DSC03522Hello Pink Saturday!!! Bev from How Sweet The Sound is hosting her weekly Pink Saturday. So, you can imagine how thrilled I was when a basket of pink things was left in my art room, while my daughter, Sarah updated her room.

DSC03523

DSC03522I love it when my girls redecorate their rooms and bring me the remains of the day. Ultimately all these goodies end up in my art room. I love being surrounded my stuffed animals, objects and memorabilia from chapters of when they were little. They love it too, because they wouldn't part with these treasures for all the tea in China, and they know I will keep it safe for them. In the meantime, I really enjoy being surrounded by these things.

DSC03524

DSC03522Then when I had a closer look at this totally fufu telephone, I thought this would look cute in the guest room.

DSC03525

DSC03522My favorite telephone when I was a teen was my pink princess telephone, I think that is why I probably gave this to my daughter Sarah when she was younger. All that Ginger Rogers fur makes you feel so much like a princess.

My creation

DSC03522As my teen girls reach to become young women, they discard the childish things and recreate their spaces with more mature treasures. I cherish all the chapters that I have enjoyed with them, so my overstuffed art room filled with memorabilia suits me just fine.

Sarah at Ocean ParkThis photo was taken when Sarah was just four years old and her favorite color was pink. The song for this post is Return to Pooh Corner sung by Kenny Loggins. Every time I look at one of my girl's teddy bears or childhood memorabilia I return to those Winnie the Pooh days. Now, like the lyrics sing, I have wandered too far away, so I must travel back to Pink Saturday.

Please make sure that you visit all the lovely blogs that take part in Pink Saturday. Stop by Bev's from How Sweet The Sound to find the list of links to a...
