I have a special "Go to" for inspiration and that is Dena Fishbein. Dena and her husband have been creating merchandise with her designs for over twenty years. I heart her fabric and I could literally move right into her house and feel totally at home.
All of Dena's designs make me feel like I am walking on the sunnyside of the street.
I was visiting Dena's blog and came across a wonderful idea for a throw pillow. She took silk scarves and tied them to a throw pillow, then fastened it with a vintage pin. The tutorial is called DIY: Vintage Scarf Pillows.
This is Dena's pillow. Check it out, it's a wonderful way to give your pillows a new look for Spring.
When I saw Dena's design I was thrilled because I just got back my pillow cover recently from my shop on Society6 .
I love embellishing things, so I borrowed Dena's idea to embellish my French script pillow.
I had cut the panels from my cut and sew design to make a long scarf. It was waiting for me to begin. Serendipity.
I used the silk fabric to tie around the pillow. Then I topped it off with a vintage type pin that I had purchased in Martha's Vineyard on a trip with my friend Joyce. I had wanted to add it to a pillow all along, but I just hadn't found the perfect one until now.
So now I can't wait to see what other pillows I can spruce up for Spring. My "Go to" inspiration from Dena never disappoints. I just ordered her new book Embellish Your Homefor more inspiration.
I can never had enough pillows and these ideas are just glorious. I remember when I first saw these rosebuds made from ribbon; it was in Marblehead, Mass. at O'RAMAS, which I believe is still there. What a beautiful little shop!
Hi Karen, this is wonderful and I too love to embellish pillows. Your fabric is gorgeous and I can see I have a bit of catchy up to do with your posts and creations. It will be fun. Wishing you a wonderful weekend my friend. Happy March. Hugs, Celestina Marie
