Rainy day inspiration

It's a cold and rainy day here in New England.

My favorite rose garden to visit is on the Cape in Sandwich.  Part of the lovely Heritage Gardens.

These photos of their rose arbor are a reminder that the roses are probably tucked safely to rest during the Fall and Winter months.

At least we can bring pink roses inside to enjoy all year 'round.

I was going to go out, but I think I'll stay in and bake an apple pie instead.  I usually make my Grandmother's recipe.

But, the Pioneer Woman has a wonderful recipe for dreamy apple pie, on her blog.

Georgianna Lane's newsletter just arrived and the link to her website not only gives wonderful photography tips, a glimpse into her gorgeous new calendar,  but a pretty new texture for you to download.  I tried it out here...

When I opened up my front door to photograph the rainy day, I noticed that I have to change my wreath for Autumn.  This photo is from last year.
This music makes me want to make a fire in the fireplace and watch Deanna Durbin in an old movie singing Begin the Beguine.  This version is by Artie Shaw.

Today is Pink Saturday and Bev from How Sweet The Sound is hosting pink inspiration.

PS - Just what the heck is a Beguine? I never had a clue.

Isn't it chilly?! You're not just a'kiddin'! Do you guys say "a'kiddin'" down there? Enjoy the pie making and the wreath reworking.

Rainy days are wonderful cozy days to read or create. I yearn for a few! It has been so long since we have had rain!
I hope when my sweet roses bed down for the long winter that they will wake refreshed and be a lot better than they were this year!!! This was not a good year for roses, here!
I get them through the winter at the grocery store....they have beautiful ones at very reasonable prices!
HPS!

It's nice to see that some things never change, and one of those is the fact that you have one of the most beautiful blogs I've ever seen, Karen. Love your wreath, no matter the year or the season.

Love you, too. Happy Fall, my friend...

XO,

Sheila
