Ever since we arrived in North Carolina, we have been curious about the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's about an hour drive from here and although we only drove a small section, we hope to go again and drive further into Virginia.
I found this wonderful version of Country Roads sung by Olivia Newton John back in 1970.
It was a beautiful ride with the Blue Ridge Mountains in view, as we drove down the winding roads highlighting beautiful scenes.
The weather was perfect, so we could see the mountains clearly. The history of the Blue Ridge Parkway is fascinating.
There were wonderful things to photograph along the way.
The clouds and sun paint the mountains with lovely highlights. I wanted to sit down and paint.
The views are spectacular, to say the least. I loved the shapes in this scene.
I had already put down my camera as we got closer to the cow. She started to moo, just as we drove by. Would have been a great capture.
Pretty places to stop along the way.
Whether you look at these beautiful sights in color or in black and white, they are remarkable.
I have so many photos to share, I will share them when I post again.
Brilliant Glory Fades
Brilliant glory fades
Haze whispers blanket the chill
Blue kisses blue, sweet dreams.

I am linking to Mosaic Monday today. Mary, over at Dear Little Red House is hosting another week of mosaic inspiration.
Wishing you a beautiful day.
You chose a nice clear day and had amazing views! We have a home in Asheville so driving the parkway is something we do often. Always different flowers in bloom in the spring and summer months. I wonder if the pollen has settled down. We're anxious to get back! Beautiful photos my friend! Enjoy your weekend! Hugs, Diane
What a beautiful drive that must have been. I love the Island, but I miss the bigger landscape of the mainland - rolling hills and big sky. I loved your shot of the meandering fence.
The parkway is a pretty drive! You captured many beautiful sights along your drive? Have a happy weekend!
What a drive! I'd be spoiled by it forever! Take your paints and a picnic next time and savor it completely! That fence is truly amazing as it winds through the fields.
We love driving the parkway too. It is so beautiful. I hope you are here in the fall to see those views filled with colorful leaves!
Beautiful photographs, Karen, and I love that version of this song.
Enjoy the views.

Karen, it's been years since I've driven the Blue Ridge Parkway so thank you for sharing these incredible photos. The mountains are spectacular, but it's those wonderful fences meandering across the grassy fields that caught my attention. What beauty!
Breathseizing photos, Karen! I saw this mountain range once and was too young to appreciate it...that's one thing about youth that is not so great. You drive by things and don't stop long enough to notice them....lovely my friend!
So pretty and peaceful!
You caught some wonderful images of the parkway. So often when we are on it there is a haze or cloudiness up so high and the view is not crystal clear. Looks like you were there on a good day!
Hi Karen, stopped by briefly to see if I could hunt down that post you shared last year including summer books you love. I have a few on my list, including my favorite which I read every year, Gift from the Sea, but I just know I made a mental note last year to remember one of yours, and go figure, I cannot remember. ;)
If you remember the post, send me a little note.
Browsing now.

Great captures, Karen. You chose the perfect day for your drive. The Blue Ridge never ceases to take my breath away. Thank you for taking and sharing your beautiful photos. Christa
It is one of our favorite places to visit. I am so happy that you loved it, too. And, you captured it perfectly.♥
