London

A friend of mine just came back from visiting her daughter in London and as she spoke about the details of her trip, I was remembering my trip to England.

I wanted to visit London ever since I read the book 84 Charing Cross Road and the Dutchess of Bloomsbury Street by Helene Hanff.

Artist Abroad
Then living in Hong Kong I made so many friends from the UK and my girls attended a British school called the Kellett School while (or should I say whilst) we lived there. I fell even more in love with the charm of everything British.

I took a trip to London with my daughter, Ashley. At the time two of my dearest friends were living there. Susan lived very near Windsor and we spent the day together touring Windsor Castle. My other friend lived closer to London and the four of us met to tour the National Portrait Museum.

Our hotel was so charming and it was very near Buckingham Palace and close to everything. We took the train to Windsor to meet my friend Susan and spent the day. Ashley and I walked all over London and took the double decker bus to see the sites.

We took a ride on the London Eye and found a wonderful place for fish and chips in Nobb Hill. I think London is the most magical place.

My friend, Susan took us to this cozy place for lunch in Windsor, the food was so delicious and there was a fireplace in the room with lots of wood paneling and oodles of charm.

I was just indulging myself with a bit of dreamy memories. I have been thinking a great deal about London again. My friend Susan still lives there and even though we talk on the telephone, I miss her so.
I Love London
I hope to get back to London again soon. Is it any wonder that Peter Pan met Wendy in London...sigh.

Until I can return to my Neverland, I will dream about the second star to the right...

The song for this post is London By Night sung my old blue eyes himself. London is the most romantic place to me, so I needed Frank Sinatra to serenade this post.

London looks like a wonderful place to visit.
Such a long way from Australia but one day I would love to travel overseas. Reading everyone's blogs and seeing where they live certainly gives you the 'Travel Bug' and wanting to travel the world.

Oh Alison you live in the most wonderful country of all...I would love to go back to Australia some day. Back when my girls were little and we were still living in the States, my husband travelled so much. I never minded until that is he said he was going to Australia. I was so jealous, but my dream came true and I visited Sydney. I love Australia, and so does my oldest daughter. I would love to travel there with her. Karen

Oh Karen, I love London, too. But my heart is in Kent, at a little country house hotel called Stone Green Hall. We stayed there about 22 years ago, so I don't even know if it's still open, but it was a beautiful place.

Mary

I went to college in London...I often say that I grew up there...I was 16 years old when I started college...a very impressionable age and came back home a young adult.
I lived in Salem, MA before I moved to Southern NJ. Your blog is great I look forward to more visits.

Is there a more magical city than London? I've visited twice and I've promised myself I will go again as soon as I possibly can! Both visits were with each of my daughters during their senior year of high school. I remember standing in front of Kensington Palace...completely in awe of the dream come true. It makes my heart race just thinking of it! Someday, I hope to visit Portobello Road and bring home some true British vintage!

Thanks, I see everyone loves London too. Yes, these are all my own photos. Can you feel the love? I enhanced them a bit to bring out the colors, and the mosaic is done mostly of photos enhanced with the colored pencil filter.

You've seen much more of London than I have, Karen! I've only ever spent a few hours at a time there, but I loved seeing the famous names of the streets, like being in a real life Monopoly game! Wonderful photo's :)
