I have been designing some artwork for a Wizard of Oz theme for a friend of my sister Lynne's. I am going to feature her adorable work later this week on my blog. Speaking of blogs, my sister's new knitting blog is beyond A-dorable. My sister, Susan is an amazing knitter and as you know she is knitting the cutest dog sweaters. She has been knitting other things as well. I will be in my art room creating, so I thought I would set a mood. For now I needed some inspirational music of course to create by, so I went searching for rainbows...
"I'm frightened, Auntie Em! I'm frightened!" Will I get this art project done in time?
I am dreaming of hot air balloons, munchkins, and ruby slippers as I spend the day creating.
Now "Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore" Don't you just love that line, Cocoa?
I found some rainbows on my flickr, and even some hot air balloons, but not a munchkin or horse of a different color. While I paint ruby slippers I needed to hear Dorothy sing, so the name of the song for this post is Over The Rainbow.
Ahhhhhh, there is no place like home...on a day when you are creating...click, click!
And Glynda asked Dorothy, "Are you a good witch, or a bad witch? "
As I write this post the wind has picked up outside, I wanted to have inspiration but this is ridiculous...
"The wind began to swish, The house, to pitch, And suddenly the hinges started to unhitch, Just then the Witch, To satisfy an itch , Was flying on her broomstick, thumbing for a hitch."
Judy Garland sings Over The Rainbow as I paint the ruby slippers.
Have a Land of Oz Day...in a follow the yellow brick road kind of way!

Now we are all inspired Karen!! Beautiful images.
It was also a memory for me as I wrote and directed a play called Wizard of Swan Lake, a spoof of OZ and lots of fun. Thanks for the memories.
Have a great day creating "Over the Rainbow"!
Loved this post! We have the OZ soundtrack and listen to it in the car singing at the top of our lungs...corny with a capital C but you gotta love this movie and all the themes it inspires!
What a fun day of creating and an awesome post..
I love the Wizard of Oz
and the music!!

I love that show! How much fun!

Where we live in the Napa Valley, we wake up most every morning to hot air balloons flying right over head. They land in the park next to our house. I'm sure way too many tourists have seen into my bedroom while I slept! (we live in a two story!)
I love Glenda...

Karen, what a wonderful post. I don't know of anyone that cannot relate to the Wizard of OZ. I have not seen the movie in about 8 years, so I am going to Netflix and renting it as soon as I leave this post!
I always enjoy visiting you!

Hi Karen,
Can't wait to see what you come up with! I was always a perverse little kid, and didn't want to watch the Wizard of Oz just because everyone always made such a fuss about it! Love the song, though! :)
xoxo,
Mary
Your puppy is darling and your images are gorgeous!
