Getaway Wednesday leads to Thankful Thursday

newburyport,-visit-plum-island

I know sometimes it is a good idea to fly away and detach from all of the worries and frets that can accumulate.

newburyport,-postcards-from-plum-islandSo, I set out to go to Newburyport, Massachusetts. It’s just so artsy, and there is the beach on quaint little Plum Island, and Vintage shops in town. What more could a girl ask for, to window shop, walk along the beach on a beautiful sunny day and meet a kindred spirit.

My creation

A walk on the beach does a spirit good.

My creation

I met a rather large cheeky seagull who followed me and at one point started squealing. So, I gave in and photographed him. Then he seemed quite content. I really don't think that he needed to put on his shades, but who am I to judge seagull couture?

A bit of browsing in two of my favorite Vintage shops.

My creation

newburyport,-windowA spin through some tree-lined streets, boasting lovely historical homes decorated for Autumn.

What’s this? A wonderful Plein Air artist for me to chat with, and to watch as she painted this lovely home overlooking Plum Island. B.J. Wayne originally from my old town of East Meadow, Long Island. Joy, just look at her beautiful painting. B.J. inspired me to pick up my oils again. She is so talented and so down to earth, meeting her was the highlight of my day.

newburyport-Plum-Island-boat-and-duneI came home refreshed, having left all of my worries at the beach on Plum Island. Newburyport, is always a good thing to do.

Wearing a smile and carrying only the beautiful images that I had memorized, I knew that each one had been a reminder of my blessings. Thankful that I live in such a beautiful State and can feast on such beauty every day. Today is Thankful Thursday and Rhondi of Rose Colored Glasses hosts this mindful day. So, please stop by and be inspired.

There are two songs for this post. Les Avions en Papier and Vois sur ton Chemin. Here is the song Lyric translation for Vois sur ton Chemin.

Look upon your path
Young boys lost and forgotten
Give them a hand
To bring them
Toward other tomorrows

Feel in the heart of the night
The wave of hope
Ardor of life
Pathway of glory

Joys of childhood
Too quickly forgotten, erased
An everlasting golden light shines
at the other end of the path

Feel in the heart of the night
The wave of hope
Ardor of life
Pathway of glory

Plum Island Butterflies

I think that I just needed to be reminded that the best things in life are free.

Enjoying God's beautiful creation, counting our blessings (and a little window shopping!) are the very best ways to forget about the bad things that bother us and focus on the good:>)

Oh Newburyport is just a hop, skip and a jump from me. I go there often. It's so pretty and fun! Did you know that you can get hot dogs for a quarter at the Richdales down town? Did you know that the mussels at the Plum Island Grill are spicy and delicious? Or that the Thirsty whale is the funnest place to get a beer? all things to keep in mind for the next time you are in the area.

First, your dogs are adorable and I love your beautiful daisies from the post below. : )

What a lovely vacation it looks like you had. Who wouldn't love walking along a gorgeous beach and doing some window shopping in addition. I hope you came back full of inspiration and happiness. My vacation seems to have done me a world of good, I feel ready to go , with lots of energy.

Your artwork is just beautiful and I look forward to seeing more of it on my future visits. I'm going to mark you as one of my frequently visited blogs.
