One World One Heart Giveaway

My creation

On January 19th Lisa's One World One Heart Giveaway will begin. I have been dreaming of what I should create for my giveaway.

October in Concord

Tucked above a little cafe in Concord, Massachusetts is this cute as a button shop. I love going there, the name of the shop is Nesting On Main.

At the foot of the staircase to their lovely place they usually have a display of some kind luring you to climb the stairs leading to their shop. Weather permitted they often have a bubble machine operating. There have been days when I drove by and a series of bubbles cascaded passed my car window. Of course I just had to park my car and visit to see what was new.

The shop is filled with birds nests of every kind, books, artwork, stamps and notions all pertaining to birds.

You can find figurines dating back to the nineteenth century, antique books and treasures.

The Gift of a Letter

Stacks of old letters are in baskets and in the back you find all kinds of things that make a mixed-media artist's heart leap.

On a recent trip, I purchased a lovely journal. The journal is made by a company named Brooklinestreet. The quality of the journal really caught my eye, and the Singer Series is a very special design of their journal creations.

DSC05199

On the cover is an antique print of a robin, and the corners are embellished with glitter. P.S. See that wonderful painting of the bird next to my collection...that was done by Donna from Donna's Art. I love her work.

Inside the lovely treasure are satin blue ribbons to be used as bookmarks.

I slid this volume off the shelf and knew that hand-painted some of the pages in the book would embellish it just enough to make it a one-of-a-kind giveaway.

So, this is my plan. I have been browsing old books and all things birds, nests and nature to create just the right touches to paint inside the book.

Garden NotesI think that the winner can write special quotes, favorite scriptures, or perhaps a journal of secrets inside. Just in time for Spring to perhaps keep Garden Notes.

Hubby LOVES Concord! =) I remember taking field trips there when I was a child.

It's hard to believe this one world one heart is here again! I participated last year and it was fabulous!

(A little reminder for you, Karen, that you won my giveaway of the lace corsage. Please email me when you have a chance - or leave a comment on my blog which I won't publish.) =)

I've been thinking about my giveaway, too! I'm thinking something with an Asian theme, since Chinese New Year is right in the middle of the giveaway window.
I absolutely ADORE your bird/nature journal idea. I would use it for quotes or a garden journal.

That journal looks great already! I think your comments will double this year! I participated in 2008 too, and I thought it was a swell event though the receiver of my prize never wrote me a note and I on the other hand never received my two prizes, it still was fun!

Hi Karen,
What a great shop to browse, and the journal is lovely. I will check out One World.

Thanks for mentioning me and the painting. I was just feeling the need the other day to paint more birds! Spring will be here before we know it.

Hugs,
Donna
