Hopeful Friday

Vision Board 5

Lighthouse WindowRecently my friend Lynda from Among The Hedgerows had a giveaway. She was giving away two copies of the book THE VISION BOARD. I won and received my copy and was thrilled that Lynda's Vision Board is featured in the book.

The Vision Board

Lynda's blog is beautiful, her photography is truly amazing. I first discovered Lynda when I purchased some of her gorgeous tags on her Etsy shop which can be found on her web site under the category Art and Embellishments. She also has an Etsy shop for her photography. She has a new web site featuring her photography, art & embellishments, a bio and link back to her blog. On the front page is a quote:
Make every day Special!

Lynda lives by that quote as seen on every post through her photography.

Vision Board 3

Lighthouse WindowThis book came at a perfect time for me. I am a great believer in vision boards. While living abroad I once had a file of wishes. In it I remember one sheet I had ripped out of a magazine of a kitchen that I loved. Kitchens in Hong Kong were less than cozy, and I longed to have a lovely one. You can imagine my surprise and awe, when we arrived in Oakville, Ontario years later and the home we were renting, had the same kitchen as in the magazine page. Even down to every detail, including the finish on the kitchen cupboards. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Vision Board 2

Lighthouse WindowThe Bible says over and over again that God wants us to have the desires of our heart. It is written that when we believe with the tiniest faith (as small as a grain of mustard seed), we can move mountains.

"Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Matthew 17:19-21

It is also written that we are to believe in things unseen as if they are already there. Vision boards line up with the word of God, they allow us to envision our heart's desire.
"Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:3-5

Lighthouse WindowIf you are like me sometimes with all the distractions of life and the nurturing and giving to the family, I forget what my heart's desires are. I love the idea of placing the visual images of my desires on a board to look at every day like an expectant child awaiting a gift from their father. I believe God loves this idea, because through this exercise we are hopeful.

Today is Hopeful Friday over at the beautiful Cielo's The House In The Roses, there are many people who post beautiful hopeful thoughts. Cielo creates a magnificent secret garden of photography, words and music. You feel as if you got off this road of life for a stretch and found a magical place. Please visit her today as she celebrates Hopeful Friday.

I think there is something so miraculous about having a Vision Board because it is a celebration of things hoped for, and when we see those things manifest in God's timing...
The Vision Board

It exercises our faith and makes us more confident that God is good.

Lighthouse WindowHave you ever had an experience with a vision board or a file of things hoped for and received your dream? I am beginning my journey creating a vision board now thanks to Lynda. Her timing was incredible, or was God reminding me it is time, in an otherwise discouraging chapter in our world, not to forget that we should still be hopeful.

Hi Karen
That is just what I needed to hear this morning. I seem to be just drifting these days, struggling with what my purpose is at this stage of my life. I could benefit from a book like that right now. I'll check into it.

It is true that God's timing is unequaled and that nothing happens merely by chance. God bless you most especially as you begin your vision board. (Lynda is such a treasure in Blogdom...I adore her blog and her photographs and I am so glad that she made this book her giveaway just so that you could win it!)

Thank you so much for your lovely words, Karen! AND for sharing links to my websites! I'm so, so happy that one of the books went to you ... God's timing is perfect and He knew you were ready for this book. Like you, I get very distracted with all that's around me and creating my vision boards keeps me grounded.

That's an amazing story about your kitchen. In "The Secret" one of the participants had a similar story ... he had visualized a house and made a vision board with the details of that house on it. About 5 years later when searching for a larger house for him and his family, he came upon the exact same house that he had visualized.

As Walt Disney said, "If you can dream it, you can do it!"

Happy Valentine's Day!

xo,
Lynda
