Letters of A Special Kind

Entrance to the gardens

DSC06003I was tidying up some letters and things.  As I tied up the stacks of letters with ribbons and bows, I read a few.

DSC01188This one that I will share, had been given to me by my lovely friend,Diane.  She gave me a lovely books of poems, which I still get so much comfort from.

June 1986

Dear Karen,

Though many of the thoughts recorded here are flowery they are the thoughts that get us through our trial. We are here for a reason. We cannot keep asking what it is nor can we guess at His purpose. Surrender and we'll find that we have done His will. It will be clear when it is done.

As all you do in love, accept all in love. Even the evil will not touch you, if you have faith and love. Be not afraid.

Love, Diane

DSC05717

NOW OR NEVER
"Don't wait with longing for the day,
When better times might come your way.
Discard the fears that may depress,
Live now and garner happiness.
It's such a waste to dwell on gloom,
Though you have problems, find the room,
For loving when the path is rough;
For laughter when the going's tough.
To fully live means you must face,
Whatever comes with humble grace.
And if you mourn, turn it to praise,
How much to do, how few the days!"

Peach letters 2_1Thank you Diane, your gift warms my heart to this day. You have no idea how much you continue to touch my life.

What a sweet friend you have in Diane. One of the nicest gifts you can give or receive is a book...it's forever.

I read the poem and it very much touched something inside of me. We are always saying the time flies, but how much time do we spend doing nothing? Or putting things off? It is my personal goal to make the most of every minute...the poem helped me see this.

Thanks, Karen!

Karen,
This is the loveliest of posts and it makes me teary-eyed. What a wonderful friend and how special that you have something that you could save through the years and still find comfort. The poem your friend wrote is very wise and very soothing.

Thank you for sharing your gift. Pain is universal and we all gain for your sharing.

Fondly,
Suz

Hi Karen, I am so glad I came by today. Your post is lovely and your friend Diane is a special friend to send you such lovely words and the poems. The one you shared should inspire us all. I believe in that poem totally.

Lovely photos and inspiration too. Thank you.

What a wonderful letter of encouragement. I think the magic of letters is that they can be read again and again. The poem is lovely, so much meaning and encouragement to live today the best we can:>)

I visit you often and read and get inspired. We are very different in style but so connected because of HIM! I have two books of poems that friends and family have written and I so agree that they are ageless and so timely when I open the cover and begin to read!
You are a treasure and a wonderful new friend!
