Paint Your Picture

a ride down a country road

I went away to attend my friend Judy's wedding.  It was a long drive and I had plenty of time to think.

a ride on a country road

hot-air-balloon-sway-to-the-leftIt seems blogging has been leading me,  Instead of me leading my blog.

What's that saying about putting the horse before the cart?

It's all those temptations of me wanting to join everyone's wonderful blogging parties.  Losing the original reason I wanted to start a blog.

Fabric design is so much fun,  Here's my new calendar fabric for 2011.  It's turned sideways so that you can make a wall hanging calendar.

And I just love creating all kinds of things,  especially the world of digital art, but I got lost on my path...

and you know how much I love photographing everything too.

Whispering words

Yet, I started to miss watercolor painting.  So, I said to myself, "it's time!"

So, I am doing all kinds of things to help me to paint again in a more disciplined fashion.  Taking steps to be more focussed.

I'll be sharing my new paintings along the way.

So, if I am missing every once in a while, it's just me entering my secret garden of painting.

But I promise when I come back up for air, I'll have plenty to share.  I just have to go find that paintbrush again!

This was so beautiful, Karen. I too have been thankful for blogging, but must pare down and use my time for my original purpose: to write and now, to illustrate. Thanks to you and others, I have found more purpose for my abilities....happy painting dear one! Anita

I am so pleased to hear you will be painting again Karen! Your paintings are so beautiful, I had been wondering why I wasn't seeing new ones but thought you had decided to go in another direction with the digital art. Blogging can be such a wonderful catalyst for growth in our art and lives, but it is easy to get caught up in blog parties and popular trends. I try to stay true to keeping my online journal journal primarily for me, and it has been such a blessing and encouragement through friends like you:>) Follow your heart Karen, it won't lead you wrong.

I am right there with you Karen, I had a vision about my art life and blogging and got totally sidetracked. Now like you I am taking the time to rethink and implement my original vision.....yay us!
Have a great day and stay warm....

Karen, I am so happy you are taking up the paint brush again! I kind of got sidetracked myself when I started blogging. I used to write short stories and I wanted to share some of them on my blog. I did for a while and then I got caught up in blogging parties too. It happens.
I look forward to seeing your new creations and I am so glad we've 'met.' In the meantime, my friend, I wish you a beautiful day filled with creativity!

Blessings,
Sandi

Oh, Karen! I so understand it when you said, "It seems blogging has been leading me, Instead of me leading my blog."

During Mr. Magpie's surgery and recovery, I realized that, too. And I am going to try and rectify it. Somewhere is a happy medium because I do so love blogging, but my everyday life got pushed to the sidelines at times in order for me to visit and do all the things I enjoy doing.

I hope you paint some wonderful watercolors and that God inspires you to the fullest. We will be here for you when you return...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Hi Karen,

I know exactly what you are saying.
Blogging does take up a lot of time and sometimes we need to not spend as much time here.
Look forward to seeing more of your wonderful paintings.
Happy week

Yippee! Even if it causes you to be MIA sometimes, I will be glad to know that you are using your paintbrush to create beautiful art. I'll miss you when you are in that secret garden of painting, but I know I will be delighted to see what you create while you are in that garden. I have NO idea why I ever began blogging. I think it's wonderful that you had a purpose in blogging and that you have found your way back to it! laurie
