Pretty Inspirations for a Rainy Day

DSC_0036

DSC_0010It was one of those lazy days, with the rain and grey sky outside my window.

DSC_0010I was in my art room lost with the company of a favorite creative muse, a book by the French General called Treasured Notions.  It inspired this inspiration board and it continued to keep me inspired to create more.

Dear Aunt Adelaide

Aunt Adelaide findsI glanced over at a few ledger pages from 1847 in a lovely shade of pale robin's egg blue.

DSC_0010I have always loved ledgers.  Once upon a time I used one when I was a bookkeeper just out of school.

DSC_0016

DSC_0010I promise you, my handwriting was nothing like the beautiful penmanship I found on these sheets.

DSC_0018

DSC_0010So, I covered a little Antique book with the paper, just like I did for my school books when I was little. We used paper bags back then, but sometimes I used wrapping paper.

DSC_0002

DSC_0010I added a bit of flowers and a lovely ribbon.  Then I added a bookplate peeking outside.  This is to remind me to create more for my shop.

DSC_0012

DSC_0010There...just what I needed to inspire me, something pretty to sit on my desk holding a reminder.  Because with me out of sight is out of mind.

DSC_0009

DSC_0010My art room has become a "no computer" zone since I rearranged things.  My computer now lives in our family room.  It's the only way I can get anything done by hand.

It feels like a little cocoon waiting for me even on a rainy day.  So I picked some pretty music to listen to, a song sung by Mindy Gledhill called This is My Song.

The sun has gone down as I write this, and the weatherman promises a sunny day tomorrow.  Hope yours is a sunny one too.

That's so pretty Karen - all the pictures are, and I like the song.

very inspiring, brought back childhood memories of when we had to cover our books and we used paper bags, if my mother was as creative, i can imagine how much fun we would have had decorating my school books.

Don't you just love the poetry in the swirls of vintage penmanship? My father who was educated in Mexico, had this sort of writing. When he would write a check, he took his time to swirl his lovely name....oh those days are so gone. But those of us that love the past, keep these memories alive in our art, and you do it so well dear one. Have a pleasant day, in spite of the rain,, Anita

What a lovely area Karen. I adore the toile.

I was looking at the handwriting on the ledger and was wishing that I had the capability to write like that. I once tried a quill but I found it hard to write properly. I was so disappointed...lol!

Doesn't it seem that the men back then had extraordinary penmanship? I remember my grandpa's curly handwriting. I wish I had his penmanship!
