Christmas in the kitchen

Christmas in the kitchen

I love having Christmas decorations in the kitchen. When I look over at my baker's rack and see the ornaments it makes me want to bake.

I learned a lovely trick for vases and punch bowls at Christmas. Fill the bowl with water, add fresh cranberries and they will hold up any fat candle. They don't have to be floaters. I tied a ribbon in and out of the edges of this one.

I discovered Susan Branch when I was living in Hong Kong. I was so homesick the year I found this wonderful Christmas cookbook. I have been a fan of hers every since. She has a wonderful web site by Susan Branch.

I love tea, and I love having my teacups stacked ready to use when I put the kettle on. My sister, Susan is creating her incredible Christmas tea blends again. I just love my sister's tea, she has been making her own blends since 1995.

Christmas in the kitchen, the kettle on for a cup of tea, browsing Susan Branch's cookbook for a new recipe and now all I need is a bit of snow.

Did I say a bit of snow?

The song for this post is Christmas Is Only Christmas With You.

Wow, you really are a Christmas person! Love each and every activity here. Thanks for the hint about the cranberries too. I am going to try it when I fly to my dughter's for Christmas. They have snow there also :)

We got our first snow yesterday. It totally paralyzed the city from 1PM until 10PM last night. I went to the post office just twenty minutes away, I got back two hours later. We are expecting another storm Saturday night until Sunday.

And, my art studio is also done in black toile fabrics and accessories. Yes, I do believe we are kindred spirits! I will have to post pics of my studio after the holidays. I really enjoyed my visit to your wonderful blog. Thank you for taking the time to visit mine also. It was great to have you there.

These are a wonderful inspiration! I was thinking about that too, our tree is in our living room, quite a long distance from the main part of our home. I have to make a trip just to see the tree each day! By having decorations where you spend the most time you are maximizing your enjoyment of the holidays!

Thanks for sharing!

Blessings & Merry Christmas!

Oh my gosh!!! What can I say? Your house look amazing. Like something straight out of a catelogue but you definitely haven't lost the "homey" feel. It is beautiful. And that snow? Your home, inside and out, certainly looks like Christmas. Wish i could be there on Christmas Day :-).
