The Promise of Spring

The Promise of Spring, originally uploaded by bluebirdsandteapots.

After the long months of winter with bits of snow sprinkled on our lawn, the milder weather suggested the promise of Spring.

I love snow, but by the time February arrives, I begin to long for Spring. I have noticed from photographs from friends in the UK that their Spring has arrived.

I could paint daffodils, but I really want to see them. I think that I will take a ride today to Wilson's Farm to see the promise of Spring. This weekend is their For The Birds weekend

Mr. CardinalNo robins in sight yet, but our Mr. Cardinal is reminding me that snow is still in the forecast. I remember leaving our snowy abode, when we went to London the end of February, and to my surprise all the daffodils were in bloom already. When my girls were small there was this magical carpet of daffodils that covered the ground of a beautiful place in New Hope Pennsylvania, Springtime in Bucks County is truly breathtaking. I believe the Daffodil Festival Weekend in Nantucket is scheduled for April 25th.

The best that I can do, is fill my home with Spring bouquets and go to photograph the flowers at Wilson Farm.
In the mood for Spring

Hope you have a lovely Spring kind of day.
Tomorrow I will fill my post with tons of Spring flowers
compliments of Wilson's.

Blessings, Karen

In God's Tomorrow There is Eternal Spring
by Helen Steiner Rice

All nature heeds the call of Spring
As God awakens everything,
And all that seemed so dead and still
Experiences a sudden thrill
As Springtime lays a magic hand
Across God's vast and fertile land
Oh, how can anyone stand by
And watch a sapphire Springtime sky
Or see a fragile flower break through
What just a day ago or two
Seemed barren ground still hard with frost,
But in God's world no life is lost,
And flowers sleep beneath the ground
But when they hear Spring's waking sound
They push themselves through layers of clay
To reach the sunlight of God's day
And man, like flowers, too, must sleep
Until he is called from the "darkened deep"
To live in that place where angels sing
And where there is Eternal Spring!"

I love Helen Steiner Rice poetry
The song for this post is It Might As Well Be Spring.

Thank you for visiting my humble blog, my fellow New Englander. It's always fun to find a wonderful blog and I think I just have. I'll be back to visit again and please feel free to visit me any day.

Will you be attending the New England Flower Show? It's in March this year and how I wish that I could be there to see all the magnificent displays.

Have a wonderful time at the Wilson Farm today...
