Pink Saturday

My creation

Pink-Saturday-dancing-size-5Today is Pink Saturday and Bev from How Sweet The Sound is hosting. If you stop by Bev's Place you will find all the Pink Posts for this Saturday.

high heel shoeAt seventeen I dreamed of being a fashion illustrator and I used to design Karen logos on all of my notebooks. I would hover over the leisure section of the New York Times and draw fashion figures for my latest Fashion Design assignments.

The illustration above is my digital painting but the sweet charms are from Two Peas In a Bucket Scrapbooking and digital embellishments. The design is from a book I have been studying on handbags. Christian Dior, Lady Dior 1989.

toile bootI always loved illustrating shoes, but I thought I would have a try at designing a few handbags, pink of course.

Dancing Shoe

Pink ValentineDreaming of those pink romantic days ahead with Valentine's Day approaching, I started thinking about a fancy handbag design to go with this frock. I think this dress would swing perfectly as your beau would twirl you around the dance floor.

Pink-Saturday-dancing-size-5

dress-collageI love fancy stationary. When I found these beautiful enclosures and card easel I had to design something special. They are called table tents. They are designed for weddings, showers, parties, to display table numbers, menus or photos. The original one was creamy white, I covered the front with a peach colored paper for a background. The paper tent measures 5 1/4 inches by 7 1/2 inches.

pink-handbag-card-easel-set-8The card easel is covered in pale peach textured paper. At the bottom of the easel I put a piece of double sided tape so that you can set it up as an easel to display.

pink-handbag-card-easel-set-8The image is a Handbag I designed using fabric, paper, a pearl brad and gold leaf paint.

My creation

dress-collageThe enclosure is a lovely tall white envelope with a heart seal. It measures 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches.

dress-collageThis slides nicely into the gold envelope for mailing. These enclosures are designed for wedding invitations, but why not create any occasion to be defined as special.

pink-handbag-card-easel-set-8I have enclosed an additional pink heart seal to put on the outside of the envelope. The outside envelope measures 5 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches.

dress-collageI put this card set on the shelf in my little shop, and I am working on some more designs which I will add over the weekend.

How fun it would be to step out and dance with Fred Astair (or Gene Kelly - sigh) in your fabulous pink frock. And at the table waiting would be that most delicious handbag holding all of those most important things for the evening - lipstick, glitzy compact, extra nylons in case of run, a dime for the pay phone - we are stepping back in time, right?.

Excuse me, I think the DVD player is calling my name...
