Memories Embossed Into My Heart

Pansie Face

DSC00764It’s a funny thing about flowers, they escort memories just at the sight of their little faces each season.

pansies-I-just-love-pansies

DSC00764As if you have forgotten that special time in a chapter. Then you see that face of the flower and the memories come rushing back.

Pansies

DSC00736I walked through gardens of pansies in a very special chapter, and the sight of it’s reflection this morning got me finding music that I enjoyed Once upon a time...

DSC00776

DSC00764Sigh. Well, let’s pour a cup of tea, listen to the sweet sound of music that holds memories dear and sweet, sit at the kitchen table and let’s take out the paintbox and paint these little faces.

DSC00774

DSC00764An AquaBoard which has a lovely watercolor surface seemed perfect to capture the little folds in each pansy petal.

DSC00748

DSC00764I painted pansies using watercolor paint and then embossed pieces and bits throughout the painting to add light and texture.

DSC00749

DSC00764Embossing and watercolor...

DSC00771

DSC00787hmmmmmmm I guess that means mixed-media.

DSC00764Let’s take a print of another watercolor design

Pansies

DSC00764and pop it into the perfect frame capturing a vignette.

DSC00733

DSC00764How about a charm? Let’s take a tiny print, hand-paint it with a bit of Perfect Pearls, pop it into a 2 x 2 charm with glass on both sides and add a bit of garden ribbon.

DSC00762

DSC00764Pansies, a cup of tea, painting memories into my day, listening to enchanting music. Embossing my memories into each little pansy on the canvas board.

pansies

DSC00737What do pansies remind you of, pour yourself a cup of tea and walk down the lanes that lead to sweet memories and the delightful face of the pansies from garden paths long ago...

DSC00734The song for this post is One Day In Your Life.

Good morning, Karen! I love pansies too. I am on "Spring" break (I am a French teacher) but here in Minneapolis, it is cold and windy. This is no weather to plant or even bring out my bistro set, but thank you for the visuals that promise that change is on the way! I have a watercolor set that I am going to bring out today, thanks to you!

Blessings, Anita

Pansies remind me of my grandmothers garden. Full of these beautiful flowers and so many more. Snapdragons, petunias and peonies. Another beautiful piece of art Karen:>)

Ah yes...paradise. We are given the gift of our Father so that we can make our own paradise; created in his image! I am playing my harp at the moment, enjoying the snowy day and the melodies of "Greensleeves"

Have a splendid day, Karen! Anita

Your are amazing Karen! You make art seem so easy. To just sit down with a cup of tea and paint something so beautiful leaves me just speechless. You are so blessed to have this gift and it is such an inspiration to be able to come here and enjoy it. Thank you so much.

Your pansies (in fact all pansies) take me back to the summer of 1976. My grandmother died end 1975 and my aunt was living alone now, so I stayed with her that summer. She bought a magazine for me '100 ideeën' = 100 ideas, a dutch translation of 100 idées, that still exists today as Marie Claire Ideès. I still can recommend that magazine. Inside the summer 1976 issue was an article about herbals. Photos of the herbal of Jean Jacques Rousseau and other important historic herbals. That inspired me to make my own herbal. Of course I had pansies in it, in all colors as my mother always had beautiful flowers in her garden. My mother taught me the names of all flowers in the garden. She was someone who just had green fingers. I still have that herbal, that I tried to make look old by writing with pen and ink in it. Pansies evoke lovely warm memories. No wonder pansies are amongst my favorite flowers! Thanks for this beautiful post again and do't forget to say Hi to your mother!

Hi Karen, your pansy painting is beautiful. For me, pansies remind me of a canvas checkbook cover I made for my mother many years ago and also taught it for a class in Indiana. What a sweet memory of those students this is for me.
Thank you for sharing.

I love the gorgeous frame you used and also the charm. Our pansies here are about finished for the season. Getting too warm for them now.
Have a great evening.
Hugs, Celestina Marie
