Mood Board Party
Thursday, April 16, 2009
y friend Gabriela Delworth is always coming up with new and interesting ways to inspire us. This week she is having a Mood Board Blog Party. You will find lots of mood boards to inspire you along with posts written to describe each one. Gabriela writes about what a mood board is and how she uses one.
My mood board is a small one that I can carry from room to room...
to hang on the wall of my art room, or sit on an easel.
Since I am often in the mood to create at my kitchen table, my board is usually plain in sight.
Each bit and bobble, old letter, swatch and sparkle are pinned to my board and represent a reminder of a design idea.
A project for my Spoonflower fabrics,
Or a Wish Design.
A bit of ribbon to inspire a design for Mr. Vintage moose,
Perhaps a mermaid waiting to be created,
Material waiting for a new charm project,
I use Vintage pins to make the board pretty and to draw attention to each item.
My board changes often,
depending on what projects
I am working on, here I have it at the bottom of my bakers rack. Whether I am cooking or creating it is in plain sight to remind me of projects I need to finish.
So here is my mood board ready to inspire me.
Music also inspires me to design. Since I am in a mermaid kind of mood, the song for this post is Legend of the Sea.
Now if you click HERE you will be inspired by so many beautiful mood boards. If you would like to share yours, Gabriela is hosting this event until the 18th. Happy Inspiration!
How lovely! But then, everything here is lovely! Thanks for the link to Gabriela's blog .... I'm flying off to look.
What a wonderful idea to put your moodboard on an easle like that so that you can take it with you. It looks wonderful!
Your mood board is lovely, but I am drooling over that beautiful easel! I want it! LOL! :)
So timely -- I'm cleaning out my workspace/office and have just hung a board of my own on one of the walls to clip my inspirations on!!
What a great idea! I am going to do this in my classroom and see what the kids come up with! Bisous, Anita
Oh my! How wonderful...I am sure that I don't have the kind of mind that could create such a thing...I'm delighted to oooh and ahhhh over your mood board. Then is the board used to pull the project together? I hope that we get to see the final product.
I love that easle, what a great idea to have a take away moodboard! And I love the idea of using the vintage pins too! I use ordinary sewing pins, but only the ones with pearl or chrystal bead knobs. Thanks for inspiration (I will certainly use the idea of the pins and brooches in the future!). Have a nice day!
It is as lovely as all of your things are. Have a Happy week...m.
Hi Karen I have missed visiting you lately. Between threes days a week of therapy and my dear cousin visiting, not much computer time. sadly she goes home on Sun. but hopefully life will get back to normal. She has been here for two weeks already.
Your mood board is a great idea as a reminder to work on your projects. I for one, need reminders. BIG smile. Yours is colorful and interesting. Gabriella is full of great ideas. You are the perfect artist to carry her ideas through.
Have a great evening.
Hugs...Jeanne

I love the idea of a portable board. Your board is so pretty and I was especially taken with that beautiful pink ribbon with green edges. It is divine!!!
And way to go on the multiple posts. Yikes that is a lot of work.
