The Cowboys

cowboy

Cowboy SaddleHowdy Cowgirls and Cowboys! So, I was browsing my usual aisles in one of my favorite little book shops,

cowboy twelve

Cowboy Saddlewhen this binding caught my eye.

cowboy eleven

Cowboy SaddleIt was dreamy brown, a bit of gold leaf with a cowboy on the cover.

cowboy fifteen rideem

Cowboy SaddleNow country music, cowboys and the wild wild west have never been of much interest,

cowboy two

Cowboy Saddleunless you consider a favorite read of mine, The Pioneer Woman. Which by the way is the greatest blog this side of The Land of Blog.

Cowboy Three

Cowboy SaddleWell, so there I was and I thought I will just bring this sweetheart of a book home,

Cowboy Two

Cowboy Saddlebecause I know there must be cowboy fans out there somewhere.

Cowboys

Cowboy SaddleThe book isn’t too old, in my years that is, and it is a Time Life book The Old West.

cowboy three

Soooo cool, I found this video, which has many of the photographs from this book with Willy Nelson singing along to My heros have always been Cowboys.

Cowboy Saddle

Cowboy SaddleWell, Can you believe this? (whenever I say that line, I can hear Meg Ryan's voice saying those same words from Sleepless in Seattle. Remember when she was driving in the car to see her new future in-laws. And Jonah was on the radio?)

cowboy thirteen

Cowboy SaddleI listed this honey of a book on etsy, because I just couldn't leave it there. I just know that some cowgirl or cowboy would love this book.

cowboy eight

Cowboy SaddleThis is a lovely Time-Life Books with text by William H. Forbis, which was the fifth edition printed in 1978.

cowboy seven

Cowboy SaddleNow I'm not much of a cowgirl, but this book is a beauty. I just had to take it home and make it available for that special someone.

Cowboy Four

Cowboy SaddleI just have to tell you writing this post was as much fun as finding this honey of a treasure. A lovely coffee table book measuring 8 1/2 by 11 inches and 240 pages. Git along little doggie, the song for this post is Cowboy Take Me Away.

Dearest Karen,
I somehow missed your beautiful Pink Saturday post!!! I had been very busy with my thesis defense, report cards and now one final lit. review paper that I am working on ALL DAY yesterday and today....you post is magical with cowboys! I LOVE WESTERN MOVIES! Mostly because of the horses, but nonetheless, I love them! I grew up in S. California and one of my favorite places long ago was Knott's Berry Farm which in the mid-70s was ruined by becoming a major amusement park. However, in the 60s, it was a ghost town type of indoor/outdoor museum of some of the finest cowboy artifacts. Pleasant memories. Have a great weekend! Anita
