BEATRIX POTTER

hen my girls were little I loved creating enchantment for them. It is why I love to create these inspirations for you. One of my favorite children’s illustrators and authors is Beatrix Potter. She was forever creating enchanting stories and illustrating them with sheer magic. She often wrote and illustrated letters to children.



Having read the story of Peter Rabbit all throughout my girls childhood, I have often imagined what Mr. McGregor's flower garden actually looked like.



As enchanting as a fairytale vegetable patch, I am sure.



Yesterday I found another treasure to add to my shop. I was browsing a book store specializing in rare and old children's books, I discovered this treasure. THE JOURNAL OF BEATRIX POTTER from 1881 to 1897. Transcribed from her code writings by Leslie Linder.



Evidently Beatrix wanted her journal to be read only by her



and proceeded to have the journal in her own secret code.



Leslie Linder translated this beautiful work and published this book in 1966.



"This Journal, which is a remarkable document was written only for her own eyes. It gives a first-hand account of Victorian life in the late 19th century and throws light on Beatrix Potter between the ages of 15 and 30, during which period comparatively little has hitherto been known."

Published in 1966 by Frederick Warne & Co. Ltd, London England. This book is filled with photographs of Beatrix, illustrations by Beatix Potter



and several family tree fold out pages. The book is 438 pages.



The book is in beautiful condition and has the original dust cover, also in beautiful condition.



"The volume is illustrated with pages from the Journal,



examples of her drawings and water colors, and photographs of the Potter family and of some of the pages mentioned in the Journal.



There are 28 illustrations in color and 39 in monochrome, and the volume includes Family Trees and a comprehensive index." This treasure is now in my shop, For The Love of Old Books.
