Snow, Snow, Snow

When the weather man said that we were expecting a Nor'easter, I didn't really believe it.

Then it arrived.

Many people are still without power.  This is what the yard looked like in previous years of snow photos.

This is what it looks like now.  We lost that tree on the left, when three birch trees toppled over too.

Fall used to be so pretty.

gazebo in the fall

That tree on the left is gone, the birches fell on top of it.  I loved that tree.

The trees that were covered in Fall leaves just couldn't hold up when the winds came.  This one is very old and used to have the most glorious white blossoms in Spring.

We are safe and we have power.  Many people are without power, and school is closed.  Halloween trick or treaters might not be coming around today.

These used to be trees.  I keep telling myself that now I can see the sunset better.

Lots of cleanup on this Halloween.

They are only trees, and so many people have had it much worse.  It's just like life sometimes...we have to embrace what we have today, because tomorrow all that we might have are the memories.

My creation

I need to dwell on happy things today, so I chose this wonderful version of Paul's song I Will.  It is sung by Ben Taylor, son of Carly Simon and James Taylor.

Glad you are safe and with electricity. Snow did the damage to your trees and drought to millions of trees down here. I think the weather has gotten all mixed up!

I thought the voice sounded like James Taylor!

I am so sorry you lost those beautiful trees....but I am glad you are safe and warm.
Hugs,
Penny

I am so sorry you lost trees, Karen. But perhaps you will fill that space with something new and equally as beautiful.
Stay safe!
Hugs,

I'm so sorry for the loss of a well loved tree. I understand that completely. I hope that you do see some glorious sunsets as a result and that they are a comfort and a compensation in some way. I'm glad that you have taken so many photos of your beautiful autumn world to remember by and I hope that all this nasty stuff melts away this week. And may snow not return until it is time. Now is NOT the time.

Who is going to do all the work? Not you, I hope!

It doesn't seem right to have all that snow on Halloween, even though it is very pretty. Beautiful wintery photographs. Have a great day, keeping warm.

Happy Halloween, Karen!

I am so sorry the storm hit you hard and you lost beloved trees in your beautifully landscaped yard! We had heavy snow and rain and nothing really accumulated so we were lucky, but even so I did not walk in the park today as they were warning that weakened tree boughs may fall. That is the way of nature.

Ben Taylor sounds so much like his Dad-- amazing!

I am so sorry about your trees, What an awful amount of snow you got, they just could not stand the snow and winds. I understand, think of the sunsets you will see better. sending a big hug. When my Dad died they cut down some trees that were close to the house ,the one we used to swing on all the time....so I do understand. hugs today.

Wow, so much damage! Sorry about the tree Karen. The poor trick or treaters, imagine going around in boots! Hang tight, hopefully you'll get a thaw and see the ground again before winter really sets in!

You've been in my thoughts and prayers......I'm so glad you have electricity.
Watching the news and seeing your pictures, is unbelievable to me.....snow in October.....and we're in short sleeves here.
Your pictures are lovely, but I feel for you with all the clean up. So glad you're safe.

Goodness,,,, Im sure this did take you all be surprise.... I know it is hard to lose such beautiful planting... your yard is awesome.... perhaps it wont be as bad after the cleanup.... our daughter lives in Ashland , MA and they were amazed by the snow as well... but thankfully didnt get as much.... She said she was dreading another snowy year. This year she has a new job in Cambridge so necessarily is having a lengthy train commute... so the winter looms before her!

I am glad you are all safe and have power.

But, it is sad to loose trees. They become constant friends in our lives by bringing us joy.

Love this music!
