Recently I was in the market and there were two marines standing on line. A lovely young girl and a handsome young man. One by one each of us on line asked the young people to go in front of us. We acknowledged how proud we were of them. As I watched them eventually moved to the front of the line, I was moved to tears. Here we were going along in our everyday tasks never thinking about our armed forces. Yet that day, the sight of these two beautiful young people in uniform reminded all of us to be mindful. It was very humbling.
Memorial Day is a chance to be mindful of the men and women who have lost their lives for our country, and their families.
