"What brings you to Pasitano"

My daughter Sarah, and her husband, Mike went to Italy for their honeymoon.  Two weeks in Italy brought them to the village of Positano for a few days.  Positano reminds me of my favorite movie, and here is the soundtrack for you.

Sarah discovered an artist painting outdoors.  Pasquale Volpe has exhibited his work in Italy, London and Hong Kong.  He actually was in Hong Kong exhibiting his work in 1996 when we lived there.  He now lives in Pasitano.  I found a remarkable site about the life style of Positano, sigh.

"Approached to painting by instinct more than a profession, he has his work in private collections in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, France, Japan, Hong and the U.S."

They bought this original watercolor painting for us, and another one for them.  They carried the paintings all the way home from Italy and yesterday we picked it up at the framer. Our ceilings are tall and this large painting really warms up the room.

I think it makes the room look cozy and now I have a focal point to use for daydreaming.  The scenery is also reminiscent of where we lived in Repulse Bay in Hong Kong.  Sarah said that when they arrived, the scenes made her miss our once upon a time home.

One of my favorite books by Frances Mayes is Under The Tuscan Sun.  Positano is home to one of my favorite scenes from the movie Under The Tuscan Sun.  When the character asks "What brings you to Positano."

Thank you Sarah and Mike.  This was such a special gift.  To know that you carried it via so many different kinds of transportation, as you toured Italy, makes it even more special to us.
