The Sounds of Nature

Is it any wonder why so many great writers who lived in New England wrote about nature? I found another beautiful place to walk the other day. Did you know that Louisa May Alcott used to babysit Emerson's children and take them for walks in the forest and tell them fairy stories? Her book Flower Fables is filled with her fairy stories and lovely words describing nature.

Exercise this time of year is effortless when you have the likes of these nature trails nearby. I love to be silent in the middle of nature. To listen to the birds and the melody of the babbling brook. The sound of a stick breaking as you walk along the path, the crunch of the ground and the sound of a nearby animal scurrying through nature's discarded leaves.




When I first discovered this place, it was a rainy and dismal day. I just knew that the first sunny day that I was free I would hike these trails with my camera. I was not disappointed and amazed at the different foliage I found there. I always admire my friend Suze's photographs of nature. I had never even noticed these before I saw them on her photographs, I thought they were only in the UK. You can imagine my surprise when I saw them yesterday.



Not only were their beautiful trails, but the benches were gorgeous. I love benches, but these looked like they would be featured in some fine furniture store.




There was quite a variety of foliage because there were different kinds of trails to take. I preferred the one alongside the brook, with little bridges everywhere and wonderful sights.



There were these little Bumble Bee Houses everywhere.



As I got further and further into the woods and witnessed the magic all around me, I knew why so many writers spin stories of fairies and nature's creatures.

Looking up at the blue sky the trees were enormous. Well not Muir Woods enormous, or Canadian enormous, but New England enormous.




There were many people walking on different trails, but many times I was completely alone feeling the peace of the place.





At the end of the walk I took a browse in their nursery. They had quite a selection of pots and planters.



The sounds on this post are the Sounds of Nature. I hope you enjoyed your walk with me, and that you have a glorious day. Sometimes a walk in nature rekindles conversations with God. With the lyrics only sung by birds and the melody played by sounds of a nearby brook our spirits are serenaded by Creation's gentle lullaby. Then when the distractions of life have vanished and we are completely still, God whispers His wisdom into our soul and let's us know...we are never alone.
