Happy Pink Saturday. Bev From How Sweet The Sound is hosting this wonderful event. So, please stop by Bev's place to see all of the posts with their pink signature. What fun, my sister, Susan is joining Pink Saturday today.

I have a gift for you today.

Image 2

For several weeks now you have been watching me paint pink. I thought why not paint together. I love making hand-made cards, first because I love creating something special for a friend, and secondly because cards are so expensive.

Image 3

Last year I designed some cake cards for my fabulous baker sister, Lynne. She loves to decorate cakes, something I really admire. So, I designed a way for me to put icing on my cake paintings. Then I boxed them up for her to use when she packages a cake, brownies or cupcakes. If you make five and tie them in a ribbon, it makes a very sweet gift.

Image 4

There are seven cake images on this post, which are my gift to you to use in any of your projects. They are numbered and although they appear small on the post, when you click on the image it will enlarge and then you can save them to your computer. I resized them so that they would print properly.

You will just need to save it to your computer.

FOR PC
If you are on your PC, first click on the image to make it large, then just right click the image and the pop up menu will direct you by asking where you would like to save it. Then click on the arrow on your browser to bring you back to the post.

FOR APPLE
If you are on an Apple computer, first click on the image to make it large, then just control+click your mouse at the same time. A pop up menu will direct you to save it to your desktop, computer etc. Then click on the arrow on your browser to bring you back to the post.

Image 5

If you have a problem or don't feel comfortable with this process, just leave a comment on this post telling me and leave your e-mail, I'll send you the JPEG file. JPEG files let you save it to your computer and it will print very nicely. You will just have to tell it what size to print. I love printing multiples. Two 5 x 7's fit perfectly on an 8 1/2 x 11" sheet. After you print one, you can copy them too.

Image 6

Now if we are going to do a craft together, we might as well listen to music by Disney to help our Creative Muse along. When you have everything you need to paint along, just come back here and follow the steps. Here is what you will need to create a card

Supplies you will need
Supplies

Fabric paint in your cake icing color.
A glue stick
Roller glue tape
Embellishments of your choice
Card stock
Envelopes
Glitter Glue
A print of one of your cake images
A pair of scissors

Card stock is available at scrapbooking stores, Michael's, Joanne's Fabrics, AC Moore and office supply stores like Staples, Office Max etc. You can buy reams of inexpensive cover sheet paper at the office supply stores, as well as lovely 5 x 7 envelopes. They even have them in pastels.

Here is the magical part. These dimensional Fabric Paints look just like cake icing, and they are 3 D.

Dimensional Fabric Paint

Step One
Save the images of cake to your computer

Step Two
Print the image onto white card stock. Printing two on a page is perfect for creating 5 x 7 cards
(you can print on regular white paper too, but the card stock looks very nice)

Step Three
Cut out a 5 x 7 cake, or cut the cake out.

Image 7
Fold your cardstock in half to create a 5 x 7 card.

Using your glue stick or double-sided tape attach your cake image to the card stock

Step Four
Using your fabric paint tube design your icing on your cake

Add icing dimensional fabric paint

Add icing dimensional fabric paint

Add details with dimensional fabric paint

Allow it to dry completely (begin working on another cake)

Step Five
Embellish with your choice of doodads by using glue. Using a paint brush, I like to paint with 3-D Glitter Glue.

Use paint brush to detail with glitter glue

Allow it to dry completely (begin working on another cake)

Embellished card

Now you are ready to write a personal note, stamp one, or attach a printed one inside your card.

Finished Card

I hope that you enjoy your pink cake. You can use these for invitations, banners, place cards, tags, journals and crafts too.

Inside Card

The song for this post is Wishes. May all your pink wishes come true.

Happy Pink Saturday, and now to really put the icing on your cake, you can visit all the Pink Saturday posts by stopping by to say hello at Bev's place.

You are so amazing! I loved this gift you so kindly shared! I just got home from a day long outdoor sale--it was just the most perfect weather and the location was spectacular, but I am so tired I can hardly see to type. I just wanted to see what you showed us this week. I will be back to reread it, so my mind will understand what to do! I had about 3 hrs of sleep last night--and to think I made change all day! Scary! So glad your sis is in PSat and I will visit her soon. Did I tell you how much I loved that cake card? Dana

My comments always get rejected from your blog and I have no idea why? I adore your work and blog but it always gets bounced back to my email. Anyway, I love the images and what a wonderful tutorial and gift. Thank you Karen, Nancy
