Outdoor Wednesday

kennebunkport-post

Every Wednesday Susan from A Southern Daydreamer hosts Outdoor Wednesday. An opportunity to visit the outdoors in other parts of the globe without making reservations. Just stop by Susan's place and visit all the outdoor places.

Maine 7It's been raining in New England for the last few weeks, and this week is no exception. Another rainy day and I wanted to take a drive to Kennebunkport today. Well, if I can't go there today, I certainly can share some photos for Outdoor Wednesday.

Kennebunkport is my favorite place in Maine. Beaches, lobsters and charming homes.

A Day in Maine

Maine 5Kennebunkport is where I first fell in love with this sweet cottage near the town that I called The Cottage of Abundance. I loved it so much that I had to paint it.

Main 2I suspect that if I were in Maine today, I would hear the fog horns in the distance. The song for this post is the Peaceful Ocean Surf. Another rainy day, another day to stay inside and paint. Happy Outdoor Wednesday, I hope that you are enjoying lovely weather. If not, I pray the fog horns lead you back home safely.

Oh you lucky lady. I have always wanted to get up that way and visit. I want to see all the states where you are. Thank you so much for the beautiful pictures. It looks like a wonderful place to live or visit. That last shot of a harbor made me want to sit down in front of the boats with a hot cup of coffee and enjoy the view.

Your painting was fantastic too. You are so talanted.

I'm sorry it's so rainy where you are, it's as hot as the dickens where I am at. Georgia summers are H.O.T., lol.

Have a great day,

Jennifer

Delightful photos of Kennebunkport and who would not recognize "The Compound"? The cottage of abundance is so charming, but then there are so many from which to choose. Lots of inspiration awaits when you have the chance to come to Maine again. Dear heavens, the weather has been vile...so depressingly sodden and gray. Ackkk, I'm tying a knot in the end of my rope else I might fall off and that wouldn't be pretty. Thanks for this lovely edition of Outdoor Wednesday!

Hello lovely friend! Kennebunkport was our place of refuge during our life in Mass.! We enjoyed the restaurants and just the lovely drive. Your cottage of abundance is so colorful and magnificent, Karen! You are so fortunate to practice your art on a regular basis. You bring us all such joy; merci mon amie! Anita

I am so glad I found you, I needed a dose of Kennebunkport :-) What a wonderful artist you are, I'll be spending some time looking at your blog in the near future. We head to Ogunquit in a few weeks, it is so magical walking along the ocean in Maine.

Karen, number one on my list of places I want to visit is New England, and your pictures heighten my desire. I am hoping my husband and I will be able to go when I retire.

Karen, you have no idea how much I love seeing these pictures. Mr. Magpie and I absolutely fell in love with Kennebunkport when we visited there a few years ago. And I "think" I've seen the cottage of abundance.

At some point, I'm going to do an Outdoor Wednesday post with my NE pictures. I just love it there. The thing that upsets me the most is that my husband is the world's BEST amateur photographer, and I thought he had taken pictures of the gardens on Martha's Vineyard. Nope. Sigh. The one at Emily Post's former home is breathtaking and has a walkway that is literally emcompassed by two huge walls of flowers. It was amazing. That was in Edgartown. My cousin owned a home there.

I have early NE ancestry, and I have really come to love that region that I knew little about before, other than the cursory visit.

XO,

Sheila... who is dodging raindrops in the Sunsthine State as well! :-)

Now I know the story about 'my' "The Cottage Of Abundance". I love this your painting and I have it as my wonderful treasure.
The Cottage of Abundance (others your paintings too) decorates my room and made me happy.

Kennebunkport is beautiful as your photos show.
Thank you, dear Karen for your beautiful art-job!
