Louisa May alcotts house 5

Sitting in front of Louisa May Alcott's house and painting, I imagined what this charming little home would have looked like decorated with wreaths boasting pink ribbons and bows.

Standing in the middle of Concord, Massachusetts, just a short walk from town is Orchard House. Home of Louisa May Alcott.

I have photographed this home more than any other in New England.

This week I photographed the garden belonging to Orchard House.

Orchard House

I could almost imagine Louisa May sitting here and writing her stories.

It inspired me to paint her little house. I sat there for hours until sunset painting her home, thinking about the joy that she has brought to so many people and children over the years.

I put this little original watercolor painting on a shelf in my little shop on Etsy,

DSC06120

along with the digital painting of Pink Orchard House.

When the sun was setting, I could almost see a story in the moon over Orchard House.

My dear Karen,

What a lovely walk down memory lane for me; New England in the fall, the most beautiful place on earth. Minnesota is stunning as well, boasting as well, famous writers and artists, but there is truly nothing like the ghosts of New England who whisper classic folklore into our hearts. Thank you, ANita

How wonderful that you can sit outside Louisa May Alcott's house. I can't imagine the thoughts that must pass through your mind! Your painting of their home is so sweet. I wonder if they did have wreaths on the windows at one time.
Have a wonderful Pink Saturday Karen!

Dearest Karen,
Thank you for visiting me today in Stillwater, MN. This is your kind of town. The homes are so stunning; we took a tour last week and saw the most magnificent views of the St. Croix River from people's bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and more. What a fun place...if I can't be in New England, then this is the next best thing! And yes, winter is going to bring its own charm, and I can't wait to see what you do with that!! Love, Anita

Oh Karen!
How precious was this post today. I so love it. You did Louisa Mae Alcotts home justice. It is positively shining from shingle to shingle, and shutter to shutter. What a joy it must have been to sit and paint. Did anyone pass by to watch? I sure would have.

Thank you for stopping by this evening. I so love Winnie the Pooh, he is my favorite. I even have him tattooed on my right ankle. I just love him so. I have spent many hours in the 100 acre woods with my children and grandchildren. I love to read.

I will be leaving early Wednesday morning for Oklahoma. It is time to go home. Debbie needs me. I will be there through October 17th. Driving back home on the 17th, get here on the 18th, and leave for Utah for 1 week for training for my work on the 19th. So I will be probably not get back to blogging until the end of October. I will miss all of my friends. Heidi will be updating on Amy Girl while I am gone. I will be in touch with her daily. I think you have met my daughter Heidi @ Fairy Footprints in the Sand. Her link was on my site tonight. If you need to mark it just go there and add it to your favorites. I am passing the torch to her while I am gone.

Thank you for your prayers and your love for my family through this tragic time. We so appreciate your cards and prayers. Country hugs and love always, Sherry
