Fly me to the moon

We got a bit of snow and I'm loving it.  Wishing you a Happy New Year.  We stayed in last night, but my daughter Sarah and her boyfriend, Mike got to go to First Night in Boston for the festivities and fireworks.

Going into the New Year I have to say goodbye to my iMac for a week.  Apple is replacing my hard drive.  It wasn't easy cleaning up my 10,000 or so photos and backing everything up.  But after a few long hours it's finally done.

I am always in search of inexpensive ways to create art.  I recently uploaded some of my photography to create decals on Spoonflower.  This one is called Snowy Gazebo Blue.

For just $5.00 I printed a 5" x 5" decal and purchased some chubby 5" square canvases from my craft store.  They were on sale for $3.00.  So ta da, I just popped this on the canvas, because the decals have self-adhesive.  They are also treated with special products to be exposed to the elements, so I didn't have to do a thing.

I recently uploaded a photograph to Society6 of my favorite barn in Pennington, New Jersey.  It brought back memories of painting this beautiful setting in all season.  Maybe it was a good reminder that going back to painting would be a good goal for 2013.

So, now I am off to fly to the moon...for a week without my trusty friend, my iMac.

I think I will make use of this time to draw, paint, photograph and play in my non-virtual world.

See you soon.

May you find it a sweet and restorative week! You always share such new things that I feel as if I know nothing at all of what is available. Thanks for stretching my thinking! Those decals are very nifty. If you've not already visited Susan Branch today, your post today reminds me of hers. Happy New Year, Karen!

Beautiful Karen. I understand how hard it would be without my computer. Have a fabulous New Year. Do not come by to leave a comment as I have lost most of my blog by moving to Google+. Jen

Enjoy your time on the moon, Karen. You'll have a good vantage point, without the distraction of the trusty imac, to watch the unfolding of the New Year. Thank you for the wonderful Christmas Calendar gifts all December.
Now - away you go, and enjoy a lovely break!

Dearest Karen, before you take off, come to see what I spent all December doing....I love your idea of taking away some time to recharge. I think I will be doing that after this week when I deliver my latest work of art to a local shop for their display window!

I REMEMBER FIRST NIGHT IN BOSTON! It was so fun! Anita

Dear Karen,
Thank you for visiting my post. Yes, one ruffle at a time, and when there are over 2000 of them, every 100th one gets to be a chance to wonder, "What did I get myself into..." but like any endeavor, you do stand back and that sense of relief at the end really s worth it.

THANK YOU Anita

My computer crashed a few weeks ago and I was forced to buy a new one. Oh, the frustration of transferring, changing and learning new 'stuff'......

Good luck to you ....

Your songs, art and words are always so uplifting to me... thank you!!!
