Old Friends Inspiration

The telephone rang and when I answered, my friend Elizabeth was on the other end.  She said that she was in Washington DC visiting her daughter and planning to visit Manhattan for the weekend.  Would I be available to meet her and her husband, Howard and stay overnight for two nights.

It took me about five seconds to say yes.

Elizabeth and I met in Hong Kong when I had an art show at the Hong Kong Visual Art Centre in 1995.  The exhibit and art show was part of a group I belonged to called Artists Abroad.  We soon became great friends, and she welcomed me into an amazing group of female artists.

Here we all are at my going away party at the China Club in Hong Kong.

Elizabeth lives in Hong Kong with her husband, Howard.  The last time I met with Elizabeth was when I lived in Toronto.  It had been about eleven years since then, and we had lost track of each other.  I had searched the Internet, but I couldn't find Elizabeth.  Until earlier this year when I received a telephone call from Elizabeth.  I bet you could hear my squeal all the way to Hong Kong.

You might be familiar with my teapot that I put into so many of my designs.  This was a going away gift from Elizabeth and my most cherished possession.

We stayed in the loveliest hotels on Central Park West and had a wonderful time. I was their guest at the Trump International Hotel.

We visited galleries all over town.  This one was in Chelsea. Wolf Kahn Oil paintings were on exhibit at the Thomas Segal Gallery.

A trip to the Guggenheim and then onto the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  We loved seeing our favorite artists there, and the current Punk Rock Fashion exhibit was really fun.

We found the most amazing restaurants and caught up on news of our families and what is going on in Hong Kong today.

On Saturday, after lunch, I just had to take Elizabeth to my favorite shop, The Tinsel Trading Company.

We had an amazing time together, and as I waved goodbye and they continued on to their jouney back to Washington D.C. I missed them already.

Thank you Elizabeth and Howard for such a beautiful weekend.  Until next time.

I am linking today to Mosaic Monday, a lovely inspiration hosted by Mary from Little Red House blog.

Good Morning Karen,
I am a first time visitor from Mosaic Monday and have enjoyed visiting everyone. How nice to have a weekend to spend with friends. From the photos, it appears you packed quite a bit into the weekend. I am new follower to your blog and am interested in learning more about the fabrics. I hope you get a chance to stop by Still Woods Farmhouse for a visit. I would be honored to have you as a guest.
