Love this post! When I was a teenager, I went to the post office every day to see if I had a letter or two! You're right, it was so amazing and wonderful to receive these from afar!
How sweet Karen! I love good old snail mail. Somehow I have lost touch with so many friends that have moved away and I'm not entirely faultless. Email can never make up for long letters and photos. But sometimes I thought~I will never see this person again. That was a crazy way of thinking...I miss those people. So now I don't believe in email and I send cards to friends and family that may only live 5 miles away. Because everyone loves to see something like that in their mailbox. :-)
Beautiful thoughts, photos and music.
Have a wonderful weekend! It is 83 degrees here in Chicago! Yipee!
Ah! Remember those days to get a handwritten letter...? But it is such a joy to receive comments from beautiful people like you! Have a pink, happy Saturday Karen!! Anita
I think we should do both! Once in a while I have to send a handwritten letter to that special friend that just needs some extra attention. I love to write and receive letters, it is weird that in this age of constant communication there will be saved very little of what we told each other every day for future generations. The big advantage of new communication tools is that the world has become so much smaller. Who would have thought of me, just a simple woman, writing to a Karen Harvey Cox, someone who I never met, wishing her a very nice and sunny weekend, and giving her my best regards to her mother too, ten years ago?
One afternoon almost 30 years ago (eekkk!!) I came home from work and found a letter sitting on the kitchen counter addressed to me from a boy I had met a few days before. I can still remember the joy and thrill of it. Today the letter sits atop a stack of letters tied in red ribbon on my bedside table. The boy is now my dear husband. Thank you for the lovely post. ~Kathy
What a fantastic post to read. Your photos are beautiful as is your antique desk. I miss handwritten letters too. It's still a thrill to get something in the mail that's personal from a friend or loved one! Happy Pink Saturday.
this is a beautiful, thoughtful post! i still have cards and letters from high school!! it's so wonderful to receive anything besides bills and trash mail! have a happy pink week!
Happy Pink Saturday. Your blog is just such a delight to visit each week. Of course, all of the pink goodies always warm my ♥. This week everyone seems to be out-doing themselves!
Wishing you, and all those close to your ♥, a purr-fect weekend filled with joy, peace and gracious living.
you have been busy making beautiful things, I see! My at college son does not understand how we'd line up each day at 4 pm to take a gander into the small mailbox allotted from the college just to see if we had a word from friend or family--it is so easy for them now but I do not think the thrill is the same, right??
I cannot even recall the last time I actually received a letter. Isn't that sad? I don't know about giving up email. But I could go without a cell phone. And I don't even want to know how to text message. Brenda
As usual, your post speaks to my heart. I love letters. I love getting "real" mail. There is something about a handwritten envelope arriving in the mail that exhilarates the soul! Your pictures are just beautiful and I love the music.
I couldn't agree with you more. Receiving a letter is one of the best things. It is personnel and take time which means more that a phone or text call.
Hi Karen.. oh my.. what a lovely post! I love getting hand written letters or cards coz it last long then send via emails.. Thanks for sharing this post. Have a good weekend.. Happy PS!
Great post Karen. It has been so long since I received a handwritten letter. I have some old letters that my mother wrote about 20 years ago and it always makes me smile to see them. She passed away 18 years ago so they are very sepcial letters Alison
I love your post! I can't remember when I last received a letter, but I remember the happiness at receiving one. My Mom still faithfully writes letters. Happy Pink Saturday! Oh and thanks for the Harry James!
I can still today remember getting a letter in the mail, waiting to sit down and read it's contents, to my delight....sad when it was over, but hey! we can still write today, and with gorgeous papers that were not availabe back in the day, Happy Pink Saturday, Char
I just found your blog today, so glad I did. Wonderful post! Oh, to go back to a simpler time when letter writing was so special & important. It seems the younger generation doesn't write in cursive very often, let alone write letters. I guess you could say I'm just old school . . .
I still hold dear letters from my grandpa that I recieved as a child.I think i shall put time aside to write a letter this week. thanks. happy late pink, heidi
Hi Karen, I love to receive a letter and I love to write them. Letters have become a lost art since the internet, but I still love it. Yes I do remember how exciting it was to open the mailbox and see a letter. Enjoyed your post, it brings back nice memories. Have a great week. hugs, Celestina Marie
Thank you always for visiting me Karen! Yes, I can't wait to get outside but it is still too cool. Cottages are my dream, but a small castle also holds dreams for me as well! Your "Massachusetts" will always stand out as a special time in my life too. God bless you, you creative lady you! Love, Anita

This was wonderful. I love to receive a letter the *old-fashioned way*. I still send them, too! *Youngsters* don't know what they are missing! =)

Happy Pink Saturday, Karen.
I love this post, and I love getting letters in the mail, too.
I am at my desk looking at our iris bed, and it looks so pretty. And, there is a bluebird that keeps pecking at my window.
Great blog. Happy Pink Saturday.

What a fabulous post - and how right you are! You can't tie emails up with ribbon to hide in a drawer to take out and treasure. Happy Pink Saturday.
Letters are such a romantic form of communication! Love your beautiful desk and that tray is gorgeous! :)
This was a very fun post! I love getting letter as well. But I love emails just as much!
Happy Pink Saturday!

I agree! A letter in the mail that isn't junk mail or a bill:>( can make my day!
