Great Aunt Adelaide's Attic & Pink Saturday

DSC03778

DSC03780Once in a garden my Great Aunt Adelaide played with my Grandmother in their country home visiting Great Aunt Mart.

Grandma through the years

DSC03780I fell in love with this photo a long long time ago. I originally designed this Great Aunt Adelaide Thank You Card to hold collections of ephemera.

great-aunt-adelaide-for-etsy-1

DSC03780Then one night I had a dream about her and thought about designing a card with Great Aunt Adelaide on the front of the card. I had this card printed professionally on dreamy white watercolor paper.

DSC03769

DSC03780Then I added just a touch of glitter to remind one of those old fashioned Vintage cards.

DSC03881

DSC03780Then I added a pocket inside, which I covered with Great Aunt Adelaide’s photo.

DSC03773

DSC03780Inside the pocket are old letters, postcards, Vintage ribbon binding, old tags, stamps and a bit of Antique prints.

Great Aunt Adelaide for etsy

Inside the card opposite the pocket is a blank card to write a note. I am sure anyone who loves ephemera will enjoy this gift.

DSC03799

DSC03780The matching envelope is lined with a print of old sheet music "Dear Old Days."

DSC03780When I was finished creating this labor of love, I decided to wrap it like an old fashioned parcel.

DSC03780I gave the first package to my mother, she loved it. As she felt the package tied in twine, she said that it brought back floods of memories of when she was little. My mom and Great Aunt Adelaide used to listen to the radio show "Let's Pretend." I was able to give her the CD, and the look on her face when she listened to it was priceless.

DSC03780My mom said that Great Aunt Adelaide is smiling in heaven.

DSC03775

DSC03780Angel inspired, I am creating numerous packets from stashes of old letters, Antique and Vintage postcards, Vintage shoelaces, bits of ephemera and stamps. The prices will vary depending on the ephemera inside. I have many resources here in historical New England to find the most incredible finds.

DSC03772

DSC03780 I have just added the first GREAT AUNT ADELAIDE'S ATTIC CARD packet on my little etsy shop. I will continue to add these packets to my etsy shop. I have a category now on my etsy shop called Aunt Adelaide’s Attic.

DSC03779

DSC03796The song for this post is Once in a Garden.

Very very pretty. I love old letters. I have a special box that I keep my dad's war letters in. I have everyone of them that he sent to his mom and dad, and sisters. I read them all the time. He lost his legs in the war at 21.
I miss him dearly.
Happy PS

Happy Pink Saturday, dear Karen. I hope you had a fun Halloween. We had the cutest witch come to our door last night. She had blond curls - just like Shirley Temple.

You are a true teacher and lover of this beautiful world. I am not sure if you realize what a simply joyous thing you have created? We live in a big old house that my Mom grew up in and so it is full of these photos which should be treated just as you have designed. I have photos that are about three by two feet and everything smaller and now I can give them the peace they deserve. You bring me joy friend. Thanks for this lesson and sparkle. Blessings.

Cocoa is so adorable as a fairy princess :-) I'm sure she had fun trick or treating.

The gift you gave to your Mom I love. I like the personal touch in it. You really though of everything. And then the package and it's old-feel is just perfect. A card with pockets - I think that's a great idea. I don't think I've seen a card with it. It's nice to have it and put little treasures in it :-)
