Pink Saturday

Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-Doll
Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-DollToday is Pink Saturday hosted by Bev from How Sweet The Sound. Every week Bev hosts this wonderful event, and each week more and more people join the rumba line to post their pink treasures, events and finds. I got to thinking...

Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-DollWhy not paint a special original painting each week to celebrate Pink Saturday. So, I thought about cupcakes, and pink roses but my first painting had to be a portrait of Miss Bunny Surprise. Given to me by my mother, she sits on one of the beds in my guest room during most days. She is the centerpiece of my baker's rack at Easter. I love her sweet face. Surely an inspiration to create by, especially since I love painting toys.

Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-DollI thought it might be fun to take some photos of the process. I propped Miss Bunny Surprise up at my kitchen table. Then I sketched her.

Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-DollI started to paint...

Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-DollI love Arches watercolor paper, especially the 90 lb. weight. I trimmed the paper down to 15" by 11" to create a more perfect size for a pretty frame.

Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-DollI chose Windsor & Newton Cotman WC Rose Madder Azilarin and Permanent Rose for my pinks.

Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-DollIt's funny but when you begin to paint toys, they seem to come alive on the paper.

Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-DollCobalt Blue and Cobalt Violet are my preference for shading. I especially love Olive Green combined with a bit of Rose Madder.

Miss Bunny Surprise

Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-DollSo here is Miss Bunny Surprise and Miss Bunny Surprise's portrait.

Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-DollI have decided to paint an original Pink painting each Saturday to celebrate Pink Saturday.

Happy-Pink-Saturday-Miss-Bunny-Doll The song for this post is Finding Neverland. I think that we are never too old to find Neverland, it's all around us and especially on Saturday, when we all squeal with delight as we visit all the kindred spirits who love Bev's Pink Saturday.

Karen, this post is just absolutely perfect. Miss Bunny Surprise has become an instant celebrity. I see Mona Lisa fame in her future.

I have always wanted to try watercolor, but never have. Maybe that will go on my "to do" list when I retire.

Happy Pink Saturday to you, dear lady.

What talent. It's so great to see the process unfold step by step. I admire your ability with watercolor - it's so difficult!

"when you begin to paint toys, they seem to come alive on the paper." -- how true that is, based on your painting!

Thanks for sharing this with us all on Pink Saturday.
