Can you believe it? When I first arrived in North Carolina, I missed the old terrain in New England.
I guess I was just trying to find home. Mindy Gledhill has a lovely song about Finding Home.
Now, I go out everyday and find wonderful places to photograph.
New roads overlooking farmlands and vineyards have replaced the winding country roads I love so much back home. Nesting in North Carolina has become a wonderful adventure.
And then there are new places to explore, like Old Salem, a favorite place to photograph.
As I walked the charming cobblestone streets, admiring the quaint cottages and picturesque gardens, I knew these scenes would be perfect compositions to paint.
A wonderful use for my camera is memorizing subjects that I would like to paint. Or simply to store away for fabric design inspiration.
I enjoy going for walks in the early morning. Of course when I go for a walk, I don't bring my good camera along. It's much too heavy.
This walk is in Reynolda Village. It's the path to Reynolda House.
Lots of shady paths overlook this amazing home and gardens.
I use my iPhone to capture the beauty around me.
The advantage of using my iPhone is that I have several wonderful apps that let me enhance and play with the images that I capture.
Like the Waterlogue App. It instantly converts your image into a watercolor painting.
FINDING HOME…home is in your heart, so no matter where you go you are home.
It must be lots of fun to explore! Some of North Carolina looks a bit like. new England.
YOU make home, wherever it is, so beautiful, Karen Harvey Cox! God gives us the freedom to explore our possibilities as we make changes and adapt to them. No matter where we end up, He is our end. We have nothing to lose.
Gorgeous photos and paintings! Now, Ihave you on my list for the European link party! Getting ready? I look forward to visiting you starting Friday, July 18th!
You are so gifted, my friend. Love your paintings and photography here, and great advice on the iPhone pics.
Home quote is perfect. Home is definitely in my heart, my cottage by the sea is somewhere in the Keys. ;)
xoxo

You're settling in to your new home! We keep finding new things to enjoy here in Florida, too! It's nice to get out and see what you can find...sometimes it's unexpected! Hugs, Diane
