Texture Inspiration

Today Kim Klassen is hosting Texture Tuesday.  Today is October's Guest Hosted eDition.

After adding Kim's KK Primmed texture to my photos and using Soft Light to adjust the color, I used Lightroom to tint the photos.

Also to add those Vintage looking edges to my photos.

I am taking Kim's Round Trip Lightroom class, and she is having another class beginning October 30th.

I love textures and I love Lightroom 4.  I was looking out for a class, and when I learned that Kim was teaching this class, I was thrilled.

How lucky that Kim is teaching this class.

Wishing you a dreamy day and perhaps A Sailboat in the Moonlight.

A String of Pearls Inspiration

It's funny how the chapters of our lives are bookmarked by so many things.  Here I am at 34 years old in the Hampton's at Coopers Beach.

I heard a sermon once and the pastor said that each chapter of our life is represented by a pearl.

As we travel on our journey we add more and more pearls until.

In our old age we have A String of Pearls to enjoy in reflection of our beautiful memories.

My friend Joyce, snapped this photo when we went to Martha's Vineyard this Spring.  She gave it to me the other day and I thought it looked familiar.  So, I took this old photo out.  That photo was taken by my husband when we had just started dating.

Such a lovely reflection, especially since we'll be hosting our daughter Ashley's baby shower this weekend.  So many pearls have been added since that photo was taken in 1983.

It's funny how somethings never change.  I still love the beach and I love photography even more now.

The name of the song for this post is A String of Pearls.  Thank you Joyce for giving me matching pearls on my necklace.

I hope this post inspires you to reflect on some beautiful pearls on your own string of pearls.  It's Monday and you know what that means...Mosaic Monday.  I am sure you will find lots of photography inspiration.  So, please stop by and visit Mary from Little Red House.

I have used Kim Klassen's textures and backgrounds on all of my photos on this post.  Kim surprised us with a beautiful collection of textures front the test kitchen.  So, I got busy using a few of them.

There's lots of new things going on her Cafe Blog.  Check out Texture Tuesday for a free and easy eDition.

Texture Tuesday

The theme this week for Texture Tuesday is
A MOVIE eDition.

I take a drive to Concord all the time.
I remembered that I have a library of photos of

is one of my favorite movies.  I'll watch any version, whether Katherine Hepburn plays Jo March or someone else.

I just love to hear the lines from the movie, see the costumes and scenes,
and get totally lost in the story.

I took advantage of Kim's special, and purchased her Ultimate Texture Bundle .  I loved the texture called INKED, it was perfect for the feeling I was trying to achieve.  I took one of my photos,

I set out to create afeel in the life of my photo.

I added the texture INKED and darkened the image several times to age it a bit.

I decided to not only use INKED as the texture to my photo, but to also use it for a background.  I placed the image on top of the texture INKED.  I used the adjustment layer LUMINOSITY, which gave it that olden days feel.

When I was satisfied with the levels of light, I added some corner embellishment. a quote and lightened the image for the final

I think Joe March would approve.

"He’s dull as powder, Meg.  Can’t you at least marry someone amusing?"

So, stop by Kim Klassen's cafe and visit all the beautiful photography and textures for this Movie eDition of Texture Tuesday.

Textures, Trails and Wramblings

 A Word of Inspiration Reminder

Is it any wonder that Monet could get lost

in his passion for a lily pond?

Swans and Sunsets are my weakness, you know?

I will go to crazy lengths to capture photos of these little passions of mine.

I parked my car and walked about a block

to a dirt path and down the trail to capture these...

When I came home to edit my captures of the day,  I started to play with the textures that Kim Klassen just sent us.

Kim Klassen calls this set canvas-backed textures.

I couldn't wait to play with my box of new crayons.

Today's theme for Texture Tuesday is the number three.  How about using these textures for three birdhouses?

As I reviewed the day's photos, I found so many photos were of trails.

It's funny how we wander down our trails in life.  Sometimes we think we know where we are going...we have a plan.  Yet other times, we haven't a clue as to where we are going.  It is in these times, that we get little unexpected surprises along the way.

The "Life of Bell"...

Bell, a friend of my Grandmother's lived around the block and would visit us often.  Bell, took care of the man who lived there for many many years.  He was ill but very wealthy.  Bell was very poor and although she lived with him to care for him, he never shared his wealth while he was alive.  Bell didn't even have proper shoes, when she visited us.

When he died, he left Bell all of his money.  She went on to live like a queen.  She moved to Florida and lived the rest of her life wealthy, happy and fulfilled.  She had sacrificed so many years taking care of him, but she knew that God was pleased.

I was designing this piece the other day, and I thought of Bell.  Somehow it seems to express how her life turned out.  I used several French Kiss Textures.
